Venezuelan held in Pomeroon with more than 10lbs cocaine

After arresting a Guyanese man in the Cummings Lodge area with a quantity of cocaine, CANU investigators traveled to the man’s home in the Lower Pomeroon river area, where a Venezuelan national was found in the house with just over 10 pounds of cocaine.

During the Monday operation, the police arrested 35-year-old Venezuelan national, Oritz Sergio Rafael. He was taken to CANU headquarters where he was told of the crime.

At the time of the bust, he was in the home of Gavin Adams, who was arrested one day earlier at Cummings Lodge with a quantity of cocaine in his possession. Two other Venezuelan nationals were arrested with him on Sunday.

CANU investigators are continuing their probe, and believe there might be a bigger drug trafficking ring involving Venezuelan nationals.
