Walton-Desir wants fair process to probe Kissoon’s “serious” allegations against Norton

Executive Member of the People’s National Congress Reform and Candidate for the party’s leadership, Amanza Walton-Desir has issued a call for the “merciless” attacks against fellow party member, Vanessa Kissson, to end over her allegations against the current leader of the PNCR, Aubrey Norton.

Since releasing a statement on social media yesterday, accusing the Opposition Leader of once issuing a sexual assault threat against her, Kissoon has found herself facing a social media backlash from supporters of Norton and other persons across social media.

In a statement criticizing the attacks against Kissoon, MP Amanza Walton-Desir said the nature of the allegations cannot be ignored and must addressed with the seriousness it deserves.

She said it it is very important to note that Ms. Kissoon was asked by Mr. Norton to come forward and speak on this matter.

“It is therefore deeply troubling to see Ms. Kissoon being mercilessly attacked on social media. These attacks are unacceptable and undermine the principles of unity, respect, and support that should define us”, Walton-Desir said.

She called on citizens to stand against any form of victim-blaming or victim-shaming.

Ms. Walton-Desir said it is vital that the way is cleared for a fair process for both Ms. Kissoon and Mr. Norton to take place.

According to the Opposition MP, “the truth will always set us free and I ask that others step back as I will, and allow matters to follow the necessary course of action that is appropriate under these circumstances”.

Norton has denied the allegations leveled against him by his party member.
