WIN to compete in all ten regions; Mohamed promises release of election policies soon

The recently formed We Invest in Nationhood party, headed by billionaire businessman, Azruddin Mohamed will be contesting in all ten administrative regions in its maiden elections voyage.

With a wave of supporters dressed in the party’s royal blue colour, Mohamed handed in his list for the upcoming elections this afternoon and said he is confident of doing well. The party is hoping that its appeal to younger voters will do the trick to get it into government.

Speaking to reporters just after handing in his list of candidates, Mr. Mohamed said he has been listening to the concerns of citizens across the country in the past few months, and that listening tour is guiding his party’s policies and priorities.

“I have traveled the length and breath of this country, and I listened to the concerns of tens of thousands of my fellow Guyanese brothers and sisters, so based on that, that is how we put the policies out there very shortly, and in a timely manner, but we wanted to get over with this first”, he said.

Among the persons on the WIN party’s list of candidates are former APNU+AFC Members of Parliament, Dawn Hastings-Williams, Natasha Singh, and Tabitha Sarabo-Halley. ANUG Leader, Dr. Mark France and Region 10 Vice Chairman and former AFC Member Mark Goring.

Former GECOM Official, Duarte Hetsberger who was relieved of his duties at the Commission just over three years ago, is also a candidate.

The WIN Presidential Candidate dodged repeated questions on his party’s policies. He said a full manifesto will be coming out soon. However, he said he is not bluffing his way to the Presidency.

“My priority area is to invest in the people and to uplift the lives of the people in this country, because every sector in this country is rotten. We will invest in the people, 59 years and no electricity, no water, and housing, persons can’t even get access to their house lots, they claim 50,000 houselots and yet thousands of persons can’t even locate and can’t even go to their house lots”, he stated.

As he focuses on the office of the President, Mohamed remains under the cloud of those US sanctions that were instituted by the US Treasury Department against him, his father, their companies and Government Permanent Secretary Mae Thomas.

He said those sanctions are about him and his companies and he does not believe they will hinder his electoral chances.

“The sanctions matter when it comes to my businesses, Mohamed’s Enterprise and Hadi’s World Incorporated”, Mohamed said.

He stated that he does not believe that he is putting the country at any risk. The WIN Presidential Candidate said it is the incumbent Government that is putting the country at risk. He dismissed allegations of being tied to the Venezuelan Government. He accused the Guyana Government of spending millions of dollars in taxpayers’ money to push that claim.

Mohamed said he will continue to travel across the country in preparation for the elections and will continue to represent the voice of the citizens in the run up to the polls.
