At the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court this morning, two teenagers stood before the Chief Magistrate and were hit with rape charges.
18-year-old, Caozuyag Menuy along with a 15-year-old boy (identity withheld because of age), stood calmly before Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan as the charge was read to them.
They were not required to enter a plea to the charge. They are accused of raping an 11-year-old girl during the month of October at Soesdyke on the East Bank of Demerara.
Bail was granted in the sum of $70,000 each and the two accused were told to return to court on July 27.
Details of the incident were reportedly made to the Police, forcing investigators to launch a probe. Following that probe, a decision was made to file charges against both teens.
