Almost five years after he allegedly hit down a 67-year-old man in Queens, New York, killing him on the spot and fleeing the scene, businessman turned race car driver, Ravindra Dharamjit, was recently arrested in Guyana and handed over to the US authorities.
Dharamjit had reportedly been hiding out in Guyana since 2019 and blended in with local speedsters, car sales companies and businessmen. He was nabbed by the Criminal Investigations Department of the Guyana Police Force at a recent horse racing event.
The same day, he was handed over to US Federal Agents and transported to the United States within hours of his arrest.
The Guyana Police Force has been tightlipped about the arrest and the extradition.
He was wanted in the US for the 2019 Christmas night deadly hit and run accident, which left 67-year-old Ainsley Dalrymple dead.
The elderly man was crossing the road, when the speeding car slammed into him, pitching his body across the roadway. The driver never stopped and sped away from the scene.
News Source understands that a few months ago, the US authorities gathered information about the man’s presence in Guyana and only recently shared it with local law enforcement, leading to the arrest.
