Ministry of Health discontinues charges for Yellow Fever vaccine card

The Ministry of Health has announced that it will no longer charge $1000 for the issuance of Yellow Fever vaccination card.

In a memo to all Government Health Clinics and other Government Health Agencies, the Health Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Malcolm Watkins stated that with immediate effect, the Yellow Fever vaccination cards will be issued free of charge.

He said the move aligns with the Health Ministry’s commitment to ensuring equitable access to essential health services, particularly in the prevention of yellow fever.

The Yellow Fever vaccines are free, but there was usually a cost attached to the card for the vaccine. A number of countries require travelers from Guyana to be vaccinated against yellow fever to gain entry.
