Guyana Association of Bankers appoints new Executive Committee

The Guyana Association of Bankers has announced the appointment of Country Manager for ScotiaBank Guyana, Nafeeza Gafoor, as its new Chairperson. Gafoor, who has worked in the banking industry for more than two decades, previously held the position of Vice Chairperson of the Association.

The Association also announced that the Chief Executive Officer of Demerara Bank Limited, Dowlat Parbu will serve as the new Vice Chairman of the Association, while the CEO of the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry Limited, Shawn Gurcharran will serve as the new Treasurer.

The Guyana Association of Bankers is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to improving banking practices and providing constructive representation, advocacy, and counsel for the financial sector in the country. It also aims to improve the banking sector for all stakeholders with an emphasis on increasing public knowledge about financial services.

The Commercial Banks in Guyana and some lending institutions are all members of the Association. There are 11 member organizations that make up the Guyana Association of Bankers.
