A new $178.2m Magistrates’ Court was yesterday commissioned in Anna Regina, Region No.2 as part of the judicial infrastructure expansion initiative which has seen a number other Courts being constructed, re-constructed or upgraded.

Speaking during the opening ceremony, Attorney General Anil Nandlall, said the opening of the new Court is another instaLlment of the Government’s push to ensure that the judiciary is able to function in a conductive environment.

He noted notable progress in the areas such as digitised case management systems, remote hearings and e-filing options which are designed to support the infrastructural upgrades.

“This new Anna Regina magistrate’s court, joins a long list of court houses commissioned since the People’s Progressive Party Civic took office,” Mr. Nandlall said listing the number of courts and mobile courts established.
