A police report on this morning’s murder-suicide in Charlotte Street has revealed that the murder victim, Teekadai Atiya Solomon was shot multiples to her body by her estranged husband who later took his own life after shooting their 10-year-old son.
The young boy remains hospitalised.
The Police said an examination of the dead woman’s body found two gunshot injuries to her right side abdomen, one to her right index finger, one to her left arm, two to her chest, two to her forehead, one to her right hip and one to her right leg.
The son was shot to the left side of his chest.
According to the Police report, the 36-year-old woman had moved out of the home she shared with her husband, owing to domestic violence, and was living with her son at the Charlotte Street apartment for the past two months.
The report stated that the man turned up at the house this morning and ran into the yard opening fire. The woman was seen running out of the yard with the man repeatedly shooting behind her as she screamed uncontrollably before falling to the ground.
The Police report stated that the man went back into the yard and fired a shot at his young son, before turning the gun on himself. He was found in a pool of blood.

Crime Scene investigators recovered a 9mm pistol, containing a magazine and 6 live 9mm rounds of ammunition at the scene. One live 9mm round and a matching spent shell were also found next to the dead man’s body.
The wife worked at ExxonMobil’s head office in Georgetown, while the husband operated a transportation service that had contracts with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
There are reports that the couple, although separated, and their young son were seen in church this past Sunday. One church goer said the man insisted that the family heeded the altar call and accepted prayers.
Post-mortem examinations are to be carried out later this week.
