Police suspect murder in discovery of woman’s body at Yarrowkabra

The discovery of the lifeless body of a woman hanging from a mango tree in Yarrowkabra is being probed as a murder, according to the Police.

The woman’s body was discovered yesterday morning hanging from the tree in her yard in the Linden/Soesdyke highway community.

She has been identified as 48-year-old Edith Reuben.

Police investigators have indicated that based on the positioning of the woman’s body, it appears as though she was murdered, then her body was later placed at the scene to make it appear as though she had taken her own life.

The body was discovered by the woman’s husband, who told investigators that the night before his wife’s death, they were both with a group of friends consuming alcohol.

The man said there was a male friend who was staying over at their home and the last time he saw his wife alive was just after 12:30 yesterday morning as he retired to bed.

The husband claimed that the friend who spent the night woke him up at around 4 o’clock yesterday morning to let him know that he was leaving. He said he went back to bed and got up back two hours later and it was then that he made the discovery of his wife’s lifeless body.

According to the Police, the friend who spent the night and left early the following morning is still to be located for questioning.

A post mortem examination is to be conducted on the body before the end of the week.
