A West Coast Demerara family has been left in mourning after a midday accident claimed the life of their 65-year-old father today. The pensioner, Roy Chanka, was riding his electric motorcycle along the Anna Catherina Public Road when he was hit down and pinned by a heavy duty truck.
The father of five was declared dead on the spot. Persons in the area who witnessed the accident were left in shock, as they explained that the man died instantly after being hit down and pinned by the truck.
One of the dead man’s grandchildren arrived at the scene and told reporters that she rushed across when she received the information about the tragedy.
News Source understands that the driver of the truck was taken into custody and is assisting the Police with the investigations. Details about the accident were not made known.
