
Police investigators are probing an accident that has claimed the life of a 20-year-old, East Bank Demerara man.
The accident occurred at around 5:30 on Monday morning along the Diamond Public Road on the East Bank of Demerara. The dead youth has been identified as Mark Ramachand.
In their report, Police investigators said based on information received, Ramachand was driving a car in a northern direction at a fast rate when he reportedly lost control and skidded off the roadway during heavy rainfall.
The car flipped into a nearby trench and became submerged.
Along with citizens in the area, the vehicle was pulled out of the trench by the Police, and the 20-year-old was found motionless pinned down in the driver’s seat.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem examination is to be performed on the body, as the investigations continue.
