Another accident along the Soesdyke/Linden Highway on Thursday night claimed the life of 69-year-old Marva Alder of Wismar, Linden.

Alder was one of the passengers in a taxi that traverses the Linden-Georgetown route when the car suffered a blowout of one of its tires and the driver lost control.

Ms. Alder was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders while the injured driver and other passengers were rushed to the Mackenzie Hospital.

A police report of the accident said it occurred around 7pm on Thursday night in the vicinity of Long Creek along the highway.

The 40-year-old driver, Keion Hope was heading towards Linden when, according to the driver, he lost control of the vehicle after its left front wheel suffered a blowout. The vehicle flipped down a ditch after hitting the side of the roadway.

Three of the injured passengers have been admitted to the Mackenzie Hospital nursing a number of broken bones.

A breathalyzer test was conducted on the driver and there was no trace of alcohol in his system. The fatal accident is under Police investigation.
