Days after they surrendered to law enforcement following the publishing of a wanted bulletin for their arrest, 33-year-old East Bank Demerara resident, Antonio Alonzo and 21-year-old Gregory Persaud, who is also from the East Bank of Demerara, appeared in Court this morning and were remanded to prison on weapons charges.
The two were arrested and charged in connection with the 10-AK 47 high powered weapons that were discovered in the Berbice area back in May.
In the company of an Attorney, the two men surrendered to the Police last week.
In Court today, they were officially charged with the crime of conspiracy to commit a felony. Investigators believe they were involved in the plan movement of the high powered weapons and the efforts to get the weapons sold locally.
Both men were remanded to prison on the conspiracy charge and will make their next Court appearance in July. Another suspect was recently charged in connection with the same matter, and the Police are still hunting for two other suspects.
