One year after six-year-old Soraya Bourne was killed in that gas station bombing on Regent Street, her relatives are demanding justice. A number of persons, including several Venezuelan nationals, are currently before the Court facing charges related to the deadly bombing incident.
On Monday night, the dead girl’s family and supporters hosted a vigil near the site where little Soraya lost her life.
At the vigil, Soraya’s mother, Samantha Bourne, said she needs justice, as she expressed dissatisfaction with the progress of the case.
“From the time October month start is everybody depress with this thing. So, we would like to get justice. We would like for the president to come out and say something because when we de go and visit him, he de seh, the man would get life in prison,” Bourne said.
On November 10, Principal Magistrate Faith Mc Gusty will rule whether the prime suspect, and his three co-accused will stand trial in the High Court for the deadly bombing.

In total, the Prosecution tendered more than 225 statements into evidence during the course of the paper committal proceedings.
Those statements came from doctors at the National Forensic Science University in India, police investigators, and key witnesses in the case, and also included DNA analysis.
The grieving mother said the family has not been treated well in the aftermath of the tragedy.
“They never one day yet call we, and say we must come to court. The police said when they need we they will call we. But the police, nobody never reach out to we family. My daughter died, I got my aunty, I got my nephew, I got a niece got fragment loss in their body. We need justice. We have to get some kind of justice,” the woman said.
Soraya Borne and her family members were near the parking lot of the gas station when the bomb went off near their car. She was killed instantly, while a number of her family members were badly injured.
