Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty, will on November 10 rule whether the accused in the Regent Street gas station bombing are to stand trial, following a no-case submission by their attorneys.
Defence Attorneys for three of the accused in the October 2025 Gas Station bombing Case last month made no case submissions.
Through their Attorneys, Jhonny Boodram, Krystal La Cruz and Alexander Bettencourt, asked the Court to find that the Prosecution led by Mandel Moore has no case against them.
Boodram was represented by Attorney-at-Law Mikel Puran, while Tifaine Rutherford appeared on behalf La Cruz. Bettencourt was represented by Melvin Duke.
Boodram, La Cruz, and Bettencourt together with the prime suspect, Daniel Alexander Ramirez Peodemo are currently facing a terrorism charge for the October 2025 bombing, which resulted in the death of six-year-old Soraya Bourne.
Ramirez Peodemo’s State appointed Counsel Shellon Boyce told the Court that her client will abide by the ruling of the Court.
In Court this morning, the Principal Magistrate informed the Court that the prosecution has responded to the no-case submission and that she will make her determination on the matter on November 10.
Earlier this year, the main accused, Ramirez Peodemo told the Court that he was the sole person responsible for the deadly bombing, and pleaded with the court to have the other three accused freed. But when the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) instructed the Prosecution to proceed with the terrorism charges against the three other Venezuelan nationals, Ramirez Peodemo recanted his guilty plea.
In July, the Prosecution completed the tendering of evidence.
Magistrate McGusty will review the statements, reports and documentary evidence tendered in court before deciding whether there is sufficient evidence against those accused of bombing the gas station.
Already, two Guyanese men, Ramesh Pramdeo and Wayne Corriea – have been cleared of the crime in the Leonora Magistrate’s Court. They were jointly charged with Rodriguez.
