Video recordings tendered into evidence in Gas Station Bombing paper committal proceedings

Additional video exhibits were tendered into evidence today as the Paper Committal proceedings in the deadly October 2025 Gas Station bombing continued in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before Acting Chief Magistrate, Faith Mc Gusty.

The exhibits included CCTV recordings from the Regent Street Mobil Gas Station, where the deadly bombing occurred, as well as video recorded interviews.

Among the video recorded interviews shown briefly in the Court, were those conducted with the prime suspect, Daniel Alexander Ramirez Peodemo and the number two accused, Alexander Bettencourt.

Poedemo and Bettencourt together with Jhonny Boodram, and Kystal LaCruz are currently facing a terrorism charge for the October 2025 bombing, which resulted in the death of six-year-old Soraya Bourne.

The case was adjourned to July 2, 2026 at 1:30pm.

Earlier this month, the Court admitted more than 225 statements into evidence. Those statements came from doctors at the National Forensic Science University in India, police investigators, and key witnesses in the case.

It also included a DNA analysis report from the Center of Excellence in DNA Forensic in India, in addition to the post mortem report of the child who died, medical certificates for the other victims who survived the attack, and the immigration records for four of the accused – Jhonny Boodram, Alexander Bettencourt, Daniel Alexander Ramirez Peodemo and Jennifer Rodriguez.

During these proceedings, Magistrate Mc Gusty will review all statements, reports and documentary evidence tendered in court before deciding whether there is sufficient evidence against those accused of bombing the gas station.

Already, two Guyanese men, Ramesh Pramdeo and Wayne Corriea – have been cleared of the crime in the Leonora Magistrate’s Court.

They were jointly charged with Venezuelan national Jennifer Rodrigues. Rodrigues was committed to stand trial in the High Court based on the evidence before that Court.
