A 50-year-old French citizen was remanded to jail today after being charged with illegally entering Guyana.

The accused, Sylvie Dubose appeared before the Chief Magistrate and claimed that she is a close friend of the US President and a special agent to the Pope.

She is accused of entering Guyana illegally between the 15th and 20th December at Springlands, Corentyne.

She was arrested during her attempt to leave the country through the Eugene Correia Airport at Ogle. It was then that it was realised that she had no immigration stamp for her entry into Guyana.

Through an interpreter, the woman sought to explain a confusing story to the Court about her career, how she got to Guyana and why she did not present herself to an immigration officer.

She also claimed that she was an agent of the Central Intelligence Agency of the United States and that two of her children had been kidnapped by the mafia in Brazil.

The Chief Magistrate remanded her to jail until the 28th January when the matter will continue.
