Police investigators in the Upper Berbice River community of 7 Mile, Hururu mission are probing the murder of a 36-year-old logger from the same community.
The suspect has been identified as a friend of logger. The Guyana Police Force has not released his name.
However, Monday midday, the two men were reportedly consuming alcoholic and energy drinks when they got into an argument. The Police said during the argument, the suspect shoved his friend, Marcus Adrian to the ground, and chopped him several times to his neck and face.
The injured man attempted to run away from the area but collapsed and died.
The suspect was apprehended by the Toshao of the village and handed over to the Police. It remains unclear what led to the deadly attack during the hangout by the two men.
A probe is underway.
