
Two days after she was brutally chopped about her body, 28-year-old Thagewante Motie of Mahaica, East Coast Demerara succumbed to her injuries on Saturday afternoon at the Georgetown Hospital, after undergoing multiple surgeries.
Her assailant, 26-year-old, Uram Doorbassa, passed away on Friday at the same Georgetown Hospital. He was admitted there after ingesting a poisonous substance, according to a Police report.
A police report of the incident stated that on Thursday night, the two got into an argument at the woman’s residence and during the argument, the man armed himself with a cutlass and slashed his girlfriend, Thagewante Motie, to her neck and one of her arms. The suspect reportedly ingested a poisonous substance moments later and both were rushed to the hospital.
Less than 24hrs after being admitted, the murder suspect died. His victim passed away the very next day. The matter remains under probe.
