Confusion erupted in the courtroom of the Chief Magistrate this morning as a man facing a charge for attempted murder, attacked his Police escort, punching the Policeman as he was being escorted to the holding area of the Courthouse.
The accused, Akeem Lammy, appeared in Court this morning and was charged with the attempted murder of Johnny Rhamdeen. It is alleged that on the 10th June at Norton Street, Georgetown, he repeatedly lashed the man to the head with a piece of wood during an argument.
The victim remains hospitalised with life threatening injuries.
Lammy was refused bail and remanded to prison. The Magistrate also ruled that he be supervised by a probation officer following his attack on the Policeman. He will make his next court appearance on July 25.
During his appearance, the man shouted out that he was fed up of the system that has caused him to suffer for a long time.
