Hospital attendant charged for attempted murder after beating man with piece of wood during row

29-year-old, hospital attendant, Andre France was today slapped with an attempted murder charge over the wounding of another man, Terry Clement, at New Market Street, here in Georgetown.

The Court was told that on the 15th July, the two men got into a heated argument and it was during that argument, France grabbed a piece of wood and repeatedly lashed Clement to the head and body resulting in him being hospitalised.

In an application for bail, the Attorney for the accused explained to the Court that the two men have a history of bad blood among them and that France would have made numerous reports to the Police about the victim’s attitude towards him.

But the Police Prosecutor objected and informed the Court that the victim remains in hospital with multiple injuries.

After listening to the arguments, the Magistrate granted bail in the sum of $300,000 and ordered the accused to make regular visits to the Police as the case continues.

The matter will come up again in Court later this month.
