A 31-year old taxi driver was all in smiles as he made his way into the Magistrate Court this morning to face robbery charges. However, by the time the matter ended, he had nothing more than a frown on his face.
Taxi driver, Quincy Abraham, stood before Magistrate Fabayo Azore and denied the allegation that he robbed Redrick Bowman of his gold chain, which was valued at $170,000.
According to reports, the accused along with some other men, held the victim at gunpoint and demanded that he hand over his valuables.
In fear of losing his life, the victim handed over the chain to the defendant before they made good their escape.
The Police Prosecutor objected to bail based on the seriousness of the offense and the fact that a gun was used in the course of the robbery.
The Magistrate took that into consideration and remanded the accused to prison until later this month. The other man fingered in the robbery are still to be arrested.
