Two boys, ages 15-years-old and 18-years-old were today charged with the rape of a 7-year-old girl.
The incident occurred in the town of Bartica. The two teens appeared in Court today and were not required to enter a plea to the indictable charge.
The two were arrested after the Police launched an investigation into the abduction of the 7-year-old girl last Friday.
She was discovered missing by her mother early in the morning. Neighbours joined the mother in a search party and the child was found lying in a bushy area close to her home. She was found naked and in an unconscious state.
She was taken to the Bartica Hospital.
One of the suspects was found close to the scene of the crime and after he was attacked by angry residents, he revealed his accomplice.
The 15-year-old has been remanded to the Juvenile Detention Centre in Sophia while the 18-year-old has been remanded to the Lusignan Prison.
They will make their next Court appearance on the 31st December.
