Senior Minister responsible for Finance Minister, Dr. Ashni Singh, has announced the commencement of the National Cash Grant distribution, with public sector workers first in line to receive the grant in their salaries as early as next week.
The cash grant of $100,000 per adult 18-years and older was allocated in the 2026 budget and is the second such grant to be distributed.
“In keeping with the commitment made by President Irfaan Ali, and as announced in the 2026 budget, government will commence the distribution of $100,000 National Cash grant for citizens 18 and older in Guyana,” the Finance Ministry announced.
The Ministry further announced that the Government will be launching an online digital platform which will be announced in due course to facilitate registration of all other eligible beneficiaries with guidance to be provided on the use of the platform.
Last month, the National Assembly Committee of Supply cleared $72.5B, to cater for the distribution of a $100,000 cash grant to more to 716,261 persons.
During the consideration of the budget estimates, Prime Minister, Mark Phillips said for planning purposes, the government had budgeted for almost 14,000 persons who will likely turn 18 this year at the time the grant is ready to be distributed.
The Prime Minister did not give a specific timeline when the money will be paid, but would only say as early as possible after the passage of the budget.
During the first round of cash grant, more than 600,000 persons registered for the grant.
