The 16-year-old young man who stabbed a 22-year-old man to death after being hit down and attacked by the man is now facing murder charges.
The teen appeared in court on Tuesday and was charged with the murder of Eccles resident, Imtiaz Alli. The case was held in camera and the teenager’s name was not released to the media because of his age.
He was charged with stabbing the man to death during a fight that was reportedly stated by the man.
In a press statement on Sunday, the Guyana Police Force reported that Alli hit the teen down with his motor car then attacked him and started beating on him when the teen retaliated and stabbed him to the neck.
Alli, who worked in the interior region, was apparently offended that the teen would walk his reputed wife home from her internet cafe job. The teen was walking with the young woman and carrying her bag, when he was attacked by the man.
Family members of the young woman have denied reports that she was romantically involved with the teen. It is believed that some friends of the now deceased man, may have told him that the teen was having a relationship with his reputed wife.
Relatives maintain that no relationship existed and the teen who worked at a wash bay in the area, would only accompany the woman home because she would leave work late at nights and would be fearful of the dark streets.
The court case will continue in the new month.
