A 19-year-old woman is among four persons currently in custody following the break up of a cocaine pellet swallowing ring by the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit.
The young woman was busted on Friday evening at the Cheddi Jagan Airport while she was preparing to board a New York bound flight. She was questioned and taken to a City Hospital where she started to excrete the pellets. By this afternoon she had excreted more than forty cocaine filled pellets.
Following the woman’s Friday evening arrest, CANU agents swooped down on at a location on the East Coast of Demerara, where they found 279 cocaine filled pellets ready to be swallowed.
Three persons at the location where the additional pellets were found were immediately arrested. Investigators say two more remain on the run.
The matter is still under investigation
