The 2025 edition of the Guyana Energy Conference and Supply Chain Expo was launched this morning with a plan to present Guyana as more than just an oil and gas country, but rather as a country that can facilitate growth in a number of other industries.
Speaking at the launch, Chief Executive Officer of the Energy Conference and Supply Chain Expo, Kiana Wilburg explained that the conference seeks to lead critical discussions on issues related to the oil and gas sector and related industries. She said attention will also be paid to sustainability in the sector.
“Some of the key topics that will feature on the agenda include: a just energy transition, financing sustainable development initiatives, developing a workforce for the future, building resilient supply chains, and promoting the advancement of women in the industry. In addition to the main four-day conference event, we will introduce parallel sessions that delve into technical and specialized topics relevant to industry professionals. These sessions will cover areas such as renewable energy integration, supply chain optimization, the application of AI to improve efficiency and resilience, and so much more”, Ms. Wilburg said.
She also explained that next year’s event will incorporate multiple discussion sessions taking place at the same time and a push to get more young people involved in the conversations surrounding energy.
The ExxonMobil Guyana company has returned as the title sponsor of the event. CEO of ExxonMobil Guyana, Alistair Routledge said his company is pleased to continue supporting the conference, since it brings multiple stakeholders together in one place, to have real and frank discussions on various issues of importance in the oil and gas sector, and supply chain management and support.
“We are excited to be that sponsor again for the title sponsor for 2025. We look forward to the engagement that we anticipate will be even healthier than in prior years, and to exploring the theme of ‘connecting the dots and integrating the future’, which is very consistent with the way ExxonMobil is looking at the future, the challenges that we all face, in continuing to deliver affordable energy, reliable energy, supplies for the society but doing it in a way that is more and more sustainable for the future”, Routledge said.
Guyana’s Minister of Natural Resources, Vickram Bharrat, in offering best wishes to the organisers of the conference and promising the Government’s continued support, highlighted the development of the oil and gas sector over the past few years in Guyana, and the impact it continues to have not only on the country’s development, but on the development of many local businesses.
Minister Bharrat said “when we were crafting our framework and building out the architecture to manage the oil and gas sector, it was exactly to ensure that Guyanese play a part in the oil and gas sector, and it was to ensure that we correct the mistakes made by other oil producing countries around the world”.
Next year’s Energy Conference and Supply Chain Expo, is expected to attract more than 7000 delegates from across the world. The four-day event opens on the 18th February.
More than 100 companies have already signed up for the expo.
