Following up on their joint statement last evening which expressed concern about the declaration of the results for Region Four before a full verification was completed, the American, British, Canadian and EU missions in Guyana this morning claimed that they are in receipt of “credible allegations of electoral fraud”.
The ABCE Diplomats did not reveal the source of the “credible allegations” or any other detail about the allegations but said they are deeply concerned about the allegations which according to them, may influence the results of the elections.
The Four issued a call on all to ensure proper procedures are in place to yield a credible election result.
“A fair and free process is vital for the maintenance and reinforcement of democracy in Guyana”, the Diplomats said.
They also issued a call on President Granger to avoid a transition of government which they believe would be unconstitutional as it would be based “on a vote tabulation process that lacked credibility and transparency”.
The Mission Heads were all observers for the elections.
