A 22-year-old Bartica man was today charged and remanded to jail over the murder of a miner from the same Bartica community.
The accused Kellorn Creighton was not required to enter a plea to the indictable charge. The incident took place on the 8th May at Third Avenue Bartica.
According to investigators, the 24-year-old miner, Alston Seon was with a group of friends at a bar, when the accused approached the group and started to issue threats against a friend of the miner.
The miner reportedly approached the accused in an effort to get him to move from the area.
In response, investigators said the accused pulled out a knife from his waist and started to stab on the miner, leaving him dead at the scene. A police report was made and the young Bartica resident, Kellorn Creighton was arrested and charged.
He has been remanded to jail and is expected back in Court in the new month.
