Batch of Jergens Ultra Healing moisturizer recalled over health risks

The Massy Distributors company has issued a recall notice for a batch of the Jergens 10oz Ultra Healing Moisturizer. The local recall follows the recall by the US manufacturer of the product.

According to a statement from the Government Analyst-Food and Drug Department, the voluntary recall is as a result of possible health risks associated with a specific batch of the product.

Consumers should look for the batch code, ZU722771.

It was explained that the potential risk is due to the presence of a bacterium known as “Pluralibacter gergoviae”, which typically poses little medical risk to healthy people.

However, persons who have certain health problems such as weakened immune systems may be more susceptible to infections.

The GA-FDD is urging consumers to discontinue use of the specified recalled lotion with lot number ZU722771 as a precautionary measure or to be on the alert when purchasing since this product may still be in circulation.
