A 24-year-old man from East Canje in Berbice, lost his life on Sunday night when he lost control of his motorcycle and fell onto the roadway.

Police in the Berbice area identified the dead youth as Shawn Atmaram. According to a statement from the investigators, the 24-year-old was proceeding south along the eastern drive lane of the Betsy Ground Public Road when he suddenly lost control of the motorcycle.

The youth was pitched onto the roadway, and the Police said it appeared as though he was riding his bike at a fast rate when he lost control of it. Although, he was wearing his helmet at the time, he sustained multiple injuries to his body.

He was pronounced dead at the New Amsterdam Public Hospital. Several motorcyclists have lost their lives in accidents across the country since the start of the year.
