An early Sunday morning accident along the #11 Public Road in East Berbice has claimed the life of a 19-year-old motorcyclist.
The dead youth has been identified as Rahul Thakoor. The fatal accident took place at around 1 o’clock this morning.
A Police report said Thakoor was riding his motorcycle along the Public Road at a fast rate when he “clipped” the handle of another motorcycle while overtaking it.
Both motorcyclists reportedly lost control of their bikes.
Thakoor slammed into a utility pole, while the other motocyclist and his pillion rider fell onto the roadway and received multiple injuries.
The Police said they were all picked up off the roadway by persons in the area, and rushed to the hospital.
19-year-old Rahul Thakoor died while receiving treatment, while the other two persons remain hospitalised.
