Body fished out of Demerara river

An unidentified body believed to be a man, which was clad in a purple vest with green lining and a khaki long pants was on Monday morning found floating between two boats at the transport and harbors wharf, Kingston.

The discovery was made just after 9:00 am by a crew member who had gone to inspect the generator discharge for one of the boats docked at the wharf.

A crew member said he was looking out into the water when he noticed the body and raised an alarm.

The body which was in a partly decomposed state may have drifted and ended up stuck between the two boats.

It was eventually pulled from the water and taken to the Lyken funeral home awaiting identification. Anyone with a missing family member is asked to visit the funeral home for identification purposes.
