Workers at the Bosai Bauxite mining company in Linden downed tools this morning and started a strike action over the prolonged negotiations between the management of the company and the workers’ union.
The workers complained this morning that the negotiations for the salary increases started in April and are being dragged on by the company.
They are also not happy with the 5.5% increase being offered by the company and have indicated to the union that it should not accept that offer.
According to the workers, they prefer a long-term salary increase offer that will be acceptable to them. They believe the company has been delaying the negotiations.
Officials at BOSAI were not available for comment.
In 2019, the BOSAI workers also went on strike for salary increases and eventually ended the strike action when they were offered a 7% salary increase.
