A Businessman made his first appearance before a City Magistrate today and was released on $50,000 bail after being charged with intent to disfigure and cause actual bodily harm.

The charge stated that on the 17th August at Sand Hill on the Linden, Soesdyke Highway, he wounded Anthony Rogers with the intent to disfigure and cause actual bodily harm.

The Attorney, representing the defendant told the court that he is confused as to why his client was charged for the offence, when all he did was defend himself against a robber.

The Attorney said the accused was attacked by the suspected robber who attempted to snatch his chain. A fight broke out between the two and it was during that scuffle that the accused managed to relieve the would be robber of his own gun and shot him.

The Police Prosecutor had no objections to bail, while the defendant was ordered to report to the nearest Police Station until the completion of the trail. He was released on $50,000 Bail.
