Businessman wants cyber crime probe of worrying documentary about him

Local businessman, Tamesh Jagmohan through his Attorney has filed a criminal complaint with the Guyana Police Force over a social media post of a documentary that paints him as a financier of the People’s Progressive Party and someone who has been involved in a number of alleged illegal activities.

In a release, Mr. Jagmohan said he is requesting an urgent and full investigation of the video which was published on a social media page called “Guyana Uncut” and which has been viewed thousands of times.

He is being represented by Attorney Dexter Todd who has indicated that the video contains a number of falsehoods and has caused severe stress to Mr. Jagmohan.

The Attorney said the contents of the video documentary have also placed the businesses owned by Jagmohan and his family’s lives in danger.

He said the contents have already caused harm to the reputation of the businessman and other persons who were named in the documentary.

The Attorney wants the Cyber Crime Unit of the Guyana Police Force to investigate the matter.

Before the online documentary was released, it was revealed that the businessman had also written to the Minister of Home Affairs requesting that an investigation be done into the operations of his businesses so that the businesses and the businessman himself could receive a clean bill of health.

It is unclear what triggered the request.
