Attorney-at-Law Eusi Anderson has issued a warning that persons will face legal action if they post or repost allegations of sexual exploitation leveled against Guyanese songbird Carlvin Burnette.
Burnette’s name has been making the rounds on social media with claims that he has been assisting a Guyanese cricketer of covering up alleged rape cases.
While none of those cases have made it to the Court as yet, allegations against the cricketer have been growing in recent days.
Today, several posts on social media suggested that Burnette has been negotiating with the alleged rape victims on behalf of the cricketer to get them to settle.
But Burnette’s Lawyer, this afternoon rejected the claims as false.
“As a proud father of a two-year old daughter, Carlvin Burnette, wishes the public to know that he strongly condemns all forms of sexual exploitation of the young and vulnerable in our society He remains ready, willing and resolute to cooperate with any public authority investigating the allegations. He is also willing, ready and determined to submit himself to a lie detector test to prove his innocence in the allegations raised,” Burnette Attorney said.
The Attorney said the post and the subsequent reposting of the allegations are injuries to Burnette’s character and persons are given 48 hours to remove all posting of the allegations involving Burnette.
“We sound a dire warning to all persons posting and reposting any allegations of Carlvin Burnett in respect of his alleged involvement with a prominent international cricketer in Guyana: delete the post from your devices and social platforms, desist from sharing defamatory lives and posts or face the full force Guyana’s cybercrime and civil laws,” the Attorney threatened.
The lawyer also threatened legal action against persons who continue to share the allegations.
The Attorney said Burnett continues to contribute positively to Guyana through his music and social goodwill and explained that he has worked years to build his brand, which he will not be allowed to be sullied by unfounded allegations and accusations.
