COVID Order amended to allow Indoor Dining at 40% capacity

The Minister of Health, Dr. Frank Anthony has amended the National COVID-19 regulations to allow indoor dining.

In the gazetted amended order, restaurants will now be allowed to accommodate indoor dining, but at 40% of the capacity of the restaurant.

Additionally, tables and chairs should be placed six-feet apart and no more than four persons will be allowed to sit at a single table.

The amended order also demands that restaurant staff wear face masks at all times. Indoor and outdoor dining will be allowed up to 9:30 pm daily and buffet type services are prohibited.

The amendment of the COVID-19 order comes just days after the National COVID-19 Task Force shut down the popular Hard Rock Cafe over over indoor dining while it was prohibited.

Guyana continues to see an increase in the number of coronavirus cases. Since the start of the year, more than 350 new COVID-19 cases have been recorded.
