Dominican Republic based airline to offer Guyana-Canada service

The President’s Office has announced that Dominican Republic based airline Sky Cana will soon launch a service between Georgetown, Guyana and Toronto Canada.  The airline will also operate flights to Houston, Texas.

President Irfaan Ali and a Government team met with senior executives of the airline at his office on Wednesday and it was announced just after that the airline has indicated its readiness to begin the Georgetown/Toronto service from the 1st June.

Details of the service were not revealed, but the President said the decision is welcomed.

Currently, Caribbean Airlines is the only airline operating a schedule service between Guyana and Canada.  There have been efforts by the Government to get other airlines to ply the route on a schedule basis, but those efforts have not been successful.

There is a large Guyanese community in Canada, which has been calling for more flights to be offered on the Guyana/Canada route
