The Guyana Police Force on Friday night announced the capture of prison escapee, Desmond James. The wanted man was nabbed just after 11:00pm in the Canal #1 area in an abandoned house.
He reportedly had a knife and pieces of clothes in his possession. The arrest was made by ranks of D’ Division following a tip off.
The man reportedly told the arresting ranks that he was making his way to Essequibo. He is back in police custody this morning. He was awaiting trial on a murder charge when he decided to dash for his freedom.
James was one of six prisoners who escaped from the Camp Street prison on Sunday afternoon as a fire swept through the facility. A prison officer was shot dead by one of the escapees, while six other officers were badly injured.
