Four more persons charged in bogus GRA cheque case

Four more persons including two clerks attached to the Guyana Revenue Authority appeared in Court today to face conspiracy charges in relation to the bogus GRA cheques that were cashed at a city bank to the tune of more than $19 million.

Appearing in Court today were Leroy Greene, Ivor Dowridge, Randi Gladstone and Tooqwan Clarke. They were slapped with two conspiracy to commit a felony charge.

The charges accuse them of conspiring with each other and those charged previously to forge two Bank of Guyana cheques, purporting that the two cheques were issued by the Guyana Revenue Authority.

The two cheques carried dates in April. One of the bogus cheques was valued at $9,875,000 while the other was valued at $9,550,000.

Three of the accused, Leroy Greene, Ivor Dowridge and Tooqwan Clarke, were granted $600,000 bail each while the fourth accused, Randi Gladstone was remanded to prison since he is already before the Court on a similar charge.

Earlier this week, Romeshand Singh, Anush Khan, Devindra Moteeram and Komalram Persaud and Shareesa Tappin were charged in connection with the same case.
