Fruit vendor remanded on murder charge

An 18-year-old fruit vendor who was warned by his mother about being in bad company, was today charged with murder.

The accused, Leon Patterson of B’ Field, Sophia is accused of murdering North Ruimveldt resident, Darrel Breedy during a robbery. The incident occurred in October 2019.

Patterson was not required to enter a plea to the indictable charge when he appeared before the Chief Magistrate this morning. He is the second suspect to be charged in the case. The other suspect, Terrence Pitt remains on remand.

North Ruimveldt resident, Darrel Breedy was in his home on the 5th October 2019 when he was attacked by two masked bandits and shot in the region of his stomach.

The men reportedly gained entry to the house through a window and were in the process of carting off a number of items when they came face to face with the homeowner and attacked him.

In Court today, the accused was accompanied by his mother who complained that she is disappointed in his actions and explained that he has been in and out of the Court with various matters since he became 16.

” If ya don’t hear, ya is guh feel” the mother said as she walked out of the Courthouse.

The accused has been remanded to jail until the continuation of the matter in the new month.
