Former Chief Executive Officer of the Guyana Power and Light Company, Bharrat Dindyal has been rehired as a Management Consultant at the power company.
In a circular to senior officials of the company, it was explained that Mr. Dindyal returned to the company in the new role with effect from the 19th October.
It was also explained that several meetings were being organised for staff members to meet with him on varying issues.
Dindyal was relieved of his duties as GPL Chief Executive Officer in 2015 just after the new government took office.
His contract had expired since December 2014 but he was kept on by the PPP in the same CEO role through an unexplained “understanding” while still serving in the CEO’s post.
The GPL Board which was then headed by Winston Brassington had completed a blistering assessment of Dindyal’s performance as CEO, pointing to his lack of management skills, poor performance on the job, disrespect for the board and bad management.
The Board had recommended that there should be no renewal of his contract.
