High Court Judge Sandil Kissoon accepted a no-case submission from the Attorney for Reagan Rodrigues aka “Grey Boy”, setting him free of the charge of murder related to the execution of political activist, Courtney Crum-Ewing.

After the prosecution closed its case in the jury trial this morning, Attorney Adrian Thompson told the Court the matter should be thrown out since the Prosecution had failed to lay out a proper case against his client.

The trial Judge accepted the no-case submission and discharged the matter.

This marked the third time that the murder charge against Rodrigues has been dismissed by the Court.

On the two previous occasions, it was dismissed at the Magistrates’ Court level, but the DPP got involved and directed that the matter be turned over to the High Court.

On the two previous occasions that the matter was also thrown out, the presiding Magistrates pointed to insufficient evidence tying the man to the murder charge.

Rodrigues was first charged back in 2015 for the murder of political activist, Courtney Crum-Ewing. He had always maintained his innocence.

Crum-Ewing was shot dead as he used a loud hailer back in 2015 to encourage residents of Diamond to vote the PPP out of office. He received at least five gunshots.

The murder sent shockwaves across the country and news of the activist’s death made headlines around the world. His family has always accused the Police of failing to carry out a proper murder probe.
