Guyana crosses 10,000 COVID cases milestone with 109 new cases in 24hrs

As Guyanese prepare for two back to back holiday weekends, Health officials are pleading with them to be cautious and avoid large crowds and gatherings as the Coronavirus cases in the country continues to climb.

The Ministry of Health reported today that 109 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the past 24 hours. There are more than 950 active cases right now with the majority of those persons allowed to be in home isolation

More than 50 positive cases are currently hospitalized with 11 persons in the Coronavirus Intensive Care Unit. This past week saw 9 deaths being recorded in 3 days.

The situation remains concerning for the Ministry of Health.

The Government continues to roll out its national vaccination programme and is encouraging all those who are eligible at this time to take a shot, to take the vaccine.
