Guyana has recorded 47 additional COVID-19 cases and one more death. The total number of deaths now stands at 49.
According to the Ministry of Health, the latest fatality is a 65-year-old man from Region Four. He passed away in the hospital.
There are now 14 persons in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit.
The total number of active cases is 597 with 547 of those active cases isolating themselves at home.
The Ministry of Health has also reported that the number of recoveries has increased to 1088.
On Wednesday during the national budget presentation, the Government announced that it was pumping close to $2 billon dollars in the country’s COVID-19 fight. A big chunk of that money will be going towards the purchase of equipment and protective gear for frontline workers.
