The total number of COVID-19 deaths in the country now stands at 41. A total of 20 deaths were recorded between March and July.

The announcement today by the Ministry of Health that two persons who recently passed had tested positive for the coronavirus, has taken the total number of deaths for the month of August to 21 as the month comes to an end today.

The total number of COVID-19 deaths in the country now stands at 41. A total of 20 deaths were recorded between March and July.

Within the past 48-hours, the death toll climbed by six. The two deaths that were recorded today are from Regions 9 and 7.

Three patients who passed away on Sunday were all women with the youngest being 31-years-old.

Meanwhile, 72 new COVID-19 have been recorded, taking the total number of active cases to 538 with 451 of those persons who are COVID-19 positive in home isolation.

Additionally, the number of recoveries has increased to 718.

The Ministry of Health has indicated that it is still facing a backlog of tests to be completed and 500 samples are to be sent to the Caribbean Public Health Agency in Trinidad and Tobago for testing.

Over the past four weeks, the country has recorded over 800 new cases.
