(Jamaica Observer) KINGSTON, Jamaica – Detectives from the Transnational Crime and Narcotics Division (TCND) arrested four men and a woman for breaches under the Dangerous Drugs Act on February 27 and March 3.
Forty-eight-year-old Gilbert Cousins of Hamstead in St Catherine was arrested on February 27 after he attempted to leave the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) headed for Curacao with 2.86 pounds of ganja that he had ingested, the police report.
And on the same day, 24-year-old Kemar Taylor of 19 Miles, Sandy Bay in Clarendon was arrested after arriving at the NMIA on a flight from Curacao. Reports are that after Taylor was interviewed by the TCND she was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where she expelled 32 pellets containing cocaine, weighing half-a-pound.
Meanwhile, on March 3 TCND detectives took three men into custody after they attempted to enter the island with cocaine. The men have been identified as 46-year-old Christopher Douglas of Sunflower Avenue in Clarendon, 26-year-old Kevin Boothe of Mineral Heights, Clarendon, and 46-year-old Jonathan Fontanelle of Georgetown in Guyana.
The men arrived at the NMIA on a flight which originated in Curacao. They were taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where they expelled a total of 174 pellets of cocaine weighing approximately 3.47 pounds.
All the accused individuals will be placed before the Half Way Tree Resident Magistrate’s Court next week, the police say.
