Guyanese woman found dead in Airport Hotel hours after arriving in India

A Guyanese woman, who travelled to India for medical attention, was found dead at an airport hotel this morning.

The woman, Racquel Olivia Seecharran, was found unconscious in a room at a transit hotel at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru, India. She arrived in India from London and was scheduled to board a connecting flight to another part of the country.

She was declared dead after being taken to a hospital.

According to reports out of India, the woman arrived from London on Tuesday Evening and was scheduled to travel to another part of the country today.

According to security at the airport, the hotel staffers attempted to contact Seecharran by phone this morning as her scheduled check-out time approached. She never answered her phone, and was found unconscious in the room by the hotel staff.

The airport medical team was alerted and rushed to the room, where medical assistance was provided. However, the woman was pronounced dead after being taken to a nearby hospital.

An investigation has been launched, as the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death remain unclear.

Seecharran was an Accountant at the Hughes, Fields and Stoby Law Firm in Guyana.
